Eyelash Extensions Q&A

Q. Will Eyelash Extensions damage my natural lash?

A. When your eyelash extensions are applied by a certified eyelash extension technician, there is no damage to your natural eyelashes. The extensions are placed on the individual natural eyelash with minimal amounts of glue to avoid the lashes sticking together or clumping. When this is done correctly the natural eyelash continues to grow with irritation to the eye or eyelash.

You can also play a part to prevent damaging your eyelashes. Do not rub, pull or pluck out any Extensions. Your natural eyelashes will fall out naturally and with this, the extension that is attached. If you are finding the extension irritable, brush them lightly with the lash brush provided to you by your technician or book an appointment to have the extensions remove with adhesive remover by your technician.

Q. How long will my extensions last?

A. A big factor in this question is your natural lash growth cycle. Every person experiences eyelash shedding daily to make room for a new lash to appear, on average you will lose between 2-5 lashes per day.

this means you may lose a total of:

one weeks loss - 20 lashes

2 weeks loss - 40 lashes

3 weeks loss - 60 lashes

this will vary from person to person. when you are not wearing extensions, this shedding process is practically undetectable.

we apply approximately 90-120 extensions per eye, this means by week 3, you may have less than half of the extensions remaining.

we recommend booking in for an infill between 2-3 weeks to keep your extensions looking full.

Q. How long does it take to have them applied?

A. You can expect an application for a fullest of eyelash extension may take anywhere from 1-2 hours. This depends on the technician and the amount of natural eyelashes the client has (the more natural lashes the longer it may take).

Q. what can I do to help the procedure?

A. we as technicians request that you attend to your appointment with no eye make up present. If you wear contact lenses, we request that you remove them before we start or please attend without them in.

Please avoid using Oil based eye make up or make up remover as this may result in your extension falling out quicker.

Q. Can I wear mascara with my extensions?

A. we do not recommend using mascara with your extensions. Most Mascaras are oil based - this is what gives you the waterproofing or 'no run' product. waterproof  mascara is also difficult to remove therefore causing clumping of extensions and natural eyelashes.

Q. Will the eyelash extension glue get in my eyes?

A. This is a completely safe and painless experience. when this procedure is done correctly. The glue is never able and does not become in contact with your eyes. there should be no irritation before or after the application. A eye pad is applied at the start of the procedure to protect the bottom eyelashes from being affected and then your eyes are to remain closed for the entire procedure.

Q. Can I get my eyelash extensions wet?

A. Once the extension glue has had a sufficient amount of time to dry (usually 24 hours after the procedure) it is safe for your extensions to get wet. In fact, we highly recommend cleansing your eyelash extensions regularly to help the retention of the lash extension. The eyelash cleanser should be oil free and can usually be purchased from your eyelash extension technician.

Q. Why do eyelash extensions take so long to have applied?

A. When booking in for your eyelash extension appointment it is important to understand that this can be a lengthy procedure. During your appointment your lash technician is required to isolate each and every natural eyelash and apply an extension to each one. understandably, this can be a time consuming procedure but this is necessary so the health of your natural lashes is maintained and will also help the end result look flawless.
